Artist Statement
This piece explores the tension between nostalgia and progress through contrasting colors and placements. The palette, featuring deep navy and black for weight and dimension against soft dim cyan and white, reflects a duality of emotion—nostalgia's heaviness versus the lightness of progress. The split horizontal layout underscores the divide, yet the 'falling_pixels' arrangement introduces a feeling of movement and flow. The broken pixels add a layer of imperfection, mirroring the struggles inherent in transitioning from one state to another. The overall composition invites reflection on how memories (nostalgia) can create resistance to change (progress), yet also enrich it, embodying a rhythmic collision that suggests both tension and harmony.
