Artist Statement

This artwork explores the emotional duality of relief and dread through contrasting colors and spatial dynamics. The palette blends cool tones of pale mint and soft sky to evoke relief, while storm gray and near black suggest an underlying dread. The placement of darker colors clusters heavily at the top left corner, fostering a sense of pressure that gradually releases into lighter fields. Broken pixels subtly disrupt this flow, emphasizing imperfection and creating an echo of the 'halo' shape seed. The rhythms of the stepped relief pattern contrast with the swirling dread, illustrating a tension between stillness and chaos across the canvas.
